Newspapers, serials, and other publications—many extremely rare—covering Canadian art, architecture, history, culture, politics, and social movements.
Canadian History and Culture 1919–1970 traces events that led to the modern Canadian identity—the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, WWII and the emergence of new roles for women, the Cold War, the LGBTQ and other social movements, protests of the Sixties, and other transitions.

Sourced from McLaren Micropublishing
In February 2024, Coherent Digital, in partnership with Ontario-based Trojman Corporation, acquired the rights to more than 1.5 million pages of content from McLaren Micropublishing. More than sixty percent of it has never been digitized, and many of the works are extremely rare.
Since 1973, McLaren has published more than 200 microform collections of Canadian newspapers, serials, and other publications covering topics including art, architecture, history, LGBTQ culture, labour and radical movements, urban/rural studies, immigration, and women’s history—collections used by major libraries around the world.
Coherent and Trojman will digitize the microfilm and use the content as the basis of the new Canadian History and Culture series on the Canada Commons platform. Canadian History and Culture will be cross-searchable with other modules on Canada Commons—including Canadian Books and Think Tanks and Canada Commons: Government.
