North American Sales Director
Are you a seasoned professional with a passion for academic publishing and a proven track record of driving growth?
As we continue to expand, we’re seeking an experienced Sales Director to deepen and grow our relationships with customers in select American regions. In this role, you’ll take ownership of key customer relationships, influence our growing product portfolio, and play a critical part in our mission.

This position is fully remote, and you’ll join a growing, globally distributed team.
As Sales Director you will:
Manage the entire sales cycle to achieve lead, trial, and sales targets.
Leverage your skills and Coherent’s unique value proposition to build a sales pipeline through traveling and other means.
Hone your outreach strategy and develop strong relationships with decision makers in academia. Listen to their needs, and focus on customer solutions.
Deliver effective presentations and demos. Work to ensure successful trials.
Meticulously update the CRM with critical information for internal communication and reporting. Use data and analyses continually to evaluate and adjust strategies as needed.
Ensure important market and usage feedback are delivered to the product team.
Collaborate in sales and company-wide meetings.
Qualifications for success:
A genuine passion for supporting business growth through sales.
At least 10 years in sales, business development or account management, in the academic publishing industry.
Close relationships in higher education and libraries.
Outstanding written and interpersonal communication skills. You enjoy every conversation, email exchange, presentation, and negotiation, because it involves connecting with people.
Natural curiosity and ability to develop an in-depth knowledge of products and customers.
Experience measuring KPIs and analyzing data to inform and enhance strategy.
Technical proficiency and ability to learn new software independently. Already comfortable with Google Suite and Excel. Experience with a CRM (we use Zoho) and Airtable preferred.
Ability to work comfortably in an early-stage company.
